DAY 01

INTO THE ADRAR

Nouakchott → Terjit Oasis → Chinguetti

Our expedition begins in Nouakchott, Mauritania’s Atlantic capital. Leaving the city behind, we travel north toward the breathtaking landscapes of the Adrar region. Our first destination is Terjit Oasis, a spectacular hidden paradise surrounded by towering cliffs and palm-filled valleys. After exploring the oasis, we continue our journey toward the ancient desert city of Chinguetti.

DAY 02

INTO THE ANCIENT CITY

Chinguetti → Camel Trekking → Sahara Desert Camp

We begin our day exploring Chinguetti, one of Mauritania’s most fascinating historical settlements. Discover its ancient streets, historic libraries and unique desert architecture. After lunch, our adventure takes us deeper into the Sahara. Meet our local camel guides and begin an unforgettable camel trek across the desert. As the sun disappears behind the dunes, we arrive at our desert camp. Spend the night beneath the Saharan stars.

DAY 03

HIDDEN OASES OF THE SAHARA

Chinguetti → Mheirith → Terjit → Atar

Wake up surrounded by the silence of the Sahara. After sunrise and breakfast, we return from our desert camp and continue our journey. Today we discover another side of Mauritania: spectacular hidden oases surrounded by rugged mountains and dramatic desert canyons. Visit Mheirith and Terjit before continuing toward Atar.

DAY 04

ACROSS THE SAHARA

Atar → Ben Amera → Adrar

Today we travel deeper into the remote landscapes of the Sahara. Our destination is Ben Amera, an extraordinary geological formation rising dramatically from the surrounding desert. Experience the enormous scale of the landscape and explore one of the expedition’s most spectacular natural locations. Continue through the remote desert landscapes of the Adrar region.

DAY 05

A RIDE INTO THE UNKNOWN

Atar → Zouérat

Today our journey takes us toward one of the most anticipated experiences of the entire expedition. Travel through vast, remote desert landscapes toward Zouérat, the starting point for our legendary railway adventure. Experience the extraordinary isolation and scale of the Sahara as we approach the Iron Ore Train.

DAY 06

THE LEGENDARY IRON ORE TRAIN

Zouérat → Across the Sahara

THE MAIN EVENT. Today we experience the legendary Mauritania Iron Ore Train. Climb aboard an open freight wagon and prepare for an extraordinary journey across the Sahara. Surrounded by endless desert landscapes, experience the atmosphere of one of the world’s most unusual railway adventures. This is raw adventure in its purest form.

Arrival in Nouadhibou

After our extraordinary desert adventure, we reach Nouadhibou. Here, the vast Sahara meets the Atlantic Ocean. Explore the coastal city, discover its surroundings and experience the remarkable contrast between desert landscapes and the ocean.

DAY 08

THE FINAL JOURNEY

Nouadhibou → Nouakchott

Our final day takes us along Mauritania’s spectacular Atlantic coastline. Travel south through changing landscapes, where desert dunes stretch toward the ocean. Experience the freedom of the open road before returning to Nouakchott, where our expedition concludes.
